Summertime and the air is full of book challenges. My favorite is the book Bingo card sponsored by Books on the Nightstand. Go to their web site http://tinyurl.com/mvzlhfz, on Memorial Day, generate your own random card to play on, and you’re all set. I play with a group of friends, and we share our Bingos as they happen. There are some competitive ones in our group, and we try to outread each other to be the first to reach a complete blackout before the summer ends on Labor Day. I’m doing pretty well this year, with three books left to finish in the month of August. Here is the card I am playing:
|Currently on the non-fiction bestseller list||A play||By an author born the same year as you||Cozy mystery||A non-human main character|
|Was turned into a movie or TV show||Set in Europe||Set in another country||Popular science||With an animal on the cover|
|Manga||Folklore or mythology||BOTNS BOOK BINGO (free square)||Romance or love story||Western|
|Written before 1700||Poetry Collection||About books, bookstores, or publishing||Nonfiction about your hometown or state||Has water on the cover|
|Published before 1970||That you chose because of the cover||From the Harvard Classics 5 foot shelf||Self-help||About royalty (fiction or non-fiction)|
When I am finished, I’ll post the books I read.
