A Duchess in Name

Amanda Weaver

Victoria Carson knew better than to expect love in her marriage. It was a simple business proposal—her money for his title. It made the parents happy, so why was her husband so cold and savage? When he was at home, that is. He spent most of his time in Italy as an archeologist. Determined to put her  money to its best use, Victoria spends her time alone rebuilding the family estate, turning it into a home and writing her distant husband letter after letter that he disregards.

Finally he is forced to return to her side, and neither can deny the passion that sparks between them. When Victoria discovers the reason for Andrew’s coldness and anger, she is forced to make a decision.

This a a genre fiction book, but deeply satisfying. The person of Miss Grantham, the woman who runs the finishing school where the girls learn to be ladies, ties all three of the books together. I plan to read the other books to see if they are enjoyable as this one.
